Mafia is an intense game. You WILL become addicted to it. In order to make sure that everyone has FUN while playing, we have to have a few rules and general guidelines that everyone should abide by. The following is the basic set of rules & guidelines. Game Hosts may add additional rules that pertain to their game mechanics, but they will be in addition to the following :

Quote:
1. If you have never played Mafia before, you should play a game or two of Quick Speed Mafia first so that you understand how the game works.

Quote:
2. This is just a game. But it is FUN! :D Please think before you post, remember it's not personal, it's mafia. Show consideration and respect for other players and the hosts at all times. If the moderators determine that you are going overboard, you will receive a hint in the form of something FUN to lighten the mood added to your last post. PM informing you to lighten up. Please take this as a polite way of letting you know that you need to take a step back. If you continue on, then you will receive a formal warning.

Quote:
3. If you sign up to play a game you must be willing to participate fully in it, Quick Speed Mafia will last 1-2 weeks, but a full game can be a month long commitment. Whilst you are alive in the game you should post at least once every 48 hours, failing to do so will result in you being mod killed or replaced at the discretion of the Game Host. If you can't participate anymore please PM the hosts. Don't just not show up - it is discourteous to the Game Hosts and other players.

Quote:
4. If it states in your role you have to use a night ability (e.g. protection, role block, kill), you must PM this to the Game Hosts during the night period, failing to do so could result in you being mod killed or replaced at the discretion of the Game Host. If your ability is one that gives you a choice between several answers to be revealed to the rest of the players (i.e. Gossip Role), you may not announce in the thread what the other options you were given to choose between were. If you want to bring these other options up you should find a way of building a case against the party involved instead. Once you have submitted your PM and it has been read, you will be unable to change your mind.

Quote:
5. In order for your vote to count they must be bolded (i.e. Vote Map). (quick tip ? bold tags should look like this [ B ] your vote [ / B ] without the spaces of course). Your vote is cast in the POLL at the top of the game thread. You are expected to vote in every lynch, we do understand that it is possible to miss game deadlines from time to time but if you miss two lynch votes in a row you will mod killed or replaced at the discretion of the Game Host. Once you have voted you cannot change it, unless the Game Host has specifically added this element to their game.

Quote:
6. Please do not blatantly out yourself or your team. This includes members of your team that are dead. It spoils the game.

Quote:
7. BTSC (Behind The Scenes Contact) is not allowed unless it is stipulated in your role. If you suspect anyone of having illegal BTSC you should inform the Game Host and the Mods/Admins immediately, they will investigate and make a determination of what happened. If you are found out to have illegal BTSC you will be modkilled and could be banned from future games.

Quote:
8. You must not edit your posts during a game as this is a fundamental rule in Mafia.

Quote:
9. Dead players may post in the thread using the color red like this- you may not post on topic and you should keep your comments to a minimum so as not to disrupt the game. There is a BBCode Tag "dead" for your convenience. Any posts that are deemed to be on-topic will be deleted. More than one infraction will result in a warning.

Quote:
10. Alive players may talk OT in the thread, but be written in green like this- Alive players should not submit posts containing only OT. There is a BBCode Tag "OT" for your convenience

Quote:
11. Non-players may comment in the thread, but only off-topic by using the [non-player]color blue like this[/non-player] - there is a BBCode tag "non-player" for your convenience. Any on-topic comments will be deleted

Quote:
12. Please do not use invisitext or small fonts. It is not fair. If you must post images, keep them small in size so that people following along via phone are not impacted.

Quote:
12. When you are replying to a comment that another player has made it is always best to quote the piece you are referring to in your reply. You can do this by clicking the 'Quote' icon in the top right hand side of their post in the thread - just remember to delete any text in their quote that isn't relevant.

Quote:
13. If you need to refer to more than one quote it is best to link back to the post rather than quote all of them directly in your reply. In order to link back to a specific post you must have the correct URL address for it, to find that you click on the title in the post in question, then highlight and copy the web address and enclose in URL tags.

Quote:
14. Do not insult the Game Hosts. Do not harass the Game Hosts. Their word is law in their game. If you do not like it, you will simply have to deal with it. Sending one or two PM's to get clarification on something that has occurred is acceptable. To constantly PM the Game Host about something you disagree with is NOT acceptable. To Publicly decry a Host for their Game here or elsewhere is not acceptable. Please remember that Hosts create these games for your enjoyment. Mistakes happen. It is the nature of the game. In addition, they may create certain roles/abilities that you have not seen before - when you sign up, you are agreeing to abide by the Game Host Rules as well as the rules of this Forum. Any player who is reported to the Mods for this type of behavior more than once, will not be allowed to play the next game.

To ensure that games are hosted efficiently and responsibly, these are the guidelines (we are also working on a Hosts FAQ):

- People wishing to host a game must have played at least two games prior to hosting, either on Revolution Mafia or another well-known mafia gaming site.
- First time hosts should consider having a co-host for full games. It will reduce the pressure on you, and host discussion can be invaluable both in the preparation of the game and when hosting.
- Players that have hosted before should consider the responsibilities and consequences of hosting alone, and then decide whether they wish to have a co-host.
- Hosts should always try to post Day and Night posts on time. If there is to be a delay, please let your players know and how long it will be, otherwise they may lose interest and your game will fail.
-First time hosts are also invited to try their hand at Hosting a Game in our Speed Mafia section! No need for a co-host there :)

LASTLY and IMPORTANT:

ANY disruptive players who do not respond to Mods warnings in a positive way may be BANNED from playing here. Please remember, Game Hosts put a lot of effort into writing the games for us to enjoy. This is a game where you will make friends, have FUN determining strategy and such like. Do not let it get personal. Always remember to HAVE FUN!
